Rare Redware Rundlet with Two-Color Slip Decoration, probably NC or TN origin, early to mid 19th century, semi-ovoid form with recessed, flattened top and individually-thrown and applied spout at midsection, the surface profusely-decorated in orange, manganese, and copper slip with banding, spots, stripes, and S-curves, all under a heavy lead glaze. Provenance: Acquired from Marcus King, who purchased at Green Valley Auctions, Mt. Crawford, VA. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. Chipping around top edge. Some flakes to shoulder area. Wear to spout. A small in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder and small piece of adhered clay near base. H 9 3/4".
