Rare Flat-Sided Stoneware Pitcher with Alkaline Glaze, probably NC origin, circa 1850-1880, ovoid pitcher with flaring collar and deeply-grooved strap handle, the left and right sides with highly unusual flattened walls, the collar with incised straight and wavy line decoration. Surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze. Excellent, condition with a small chip to handle and minor chipping to bottom edge of pitcher. H 9".
