Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to the Stone or Penland Family, Buncombe County, NC origin, late 19th century, ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled, flaring collar, the surface covered in a mottled brown alkaline glaze. Provenance: Purchased from Rodney Leftwich in 2006; Ex-Collection of Milton J. Bloch and Mary Karen Vellines. Heavy wear to spout. Wear to rim and handle. Some small spots of wear to body of pitcher. A small in-the-firing ping to base. H 10 1/2".
