Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Melted Glass Decoration, probably Upstate SC origin, third quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jar with flattened, semi-rounded rim and flattened tab handles, the surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze with applied glass treatment spanning the length of each handle. Rutile visible at the handles, rim, and interior. Very nice condition. Some shallow chipping to foot. A shallow 7/8" flake to one handle, possibly as-made. A shallow 5/8" flake to rim, possibly as-made. H 12".
