Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spaniel with Cobalt Decoration, OH origin, late 19th century, molded figure of a seated spaniel with Bristol-slip-glazed surface, brush-decorated with heavy cobalt fur detail, facial features, and a locket and chain. One of the most elaborately-decorated examples of this type that we have seen. Provenance: William Kelly Young Collection; Crocker Farm, Inc. Auction of the William Kelly Young Collection, January 30, 2010, lot 211. Heavy chipping to base. In-the-firing separation near base on front, which does not extend through to interior. H 9 1/4".
