Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Northeastern U.S. origin, second or third quarter 19th century, a one-gallon highly-ovoid jug with brushed floral motif, stamped "CHOLLAR DARBY & Co. / CORTLAND," NY State origin, circa 1840; paired with a two-gallon jug with brushed floral motif, stamped "S.L. PEWTRESS & CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN," circa 1875. Shorter with loss to spout, two streaks of residue from use to front, and in-the-firing discolored streaks to body. Pewtress jug with areas of fry to cobalt and a small spout chip. H (0f shorter) 10 1/2".
