Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched on a leafy branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Areas of exfoliation to exterior. A sealed 7 1/2" crack from rim on reverse, including a small chip and small reglued chip. A few chips to interior of rim, including one small chip filled with glue. Some light staining to exterior. Light water glass staining to interior. An unglazed in-the-firing contact mark at base on front. H 11 1/4".
