Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "F.A. GALE. / GALESVILLE N.Y," third quarter 19th century, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a tall, boldly slip-trailed plant featuring scrolled stems. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. In-the-firing spalling to cobalt. Spout with a small chip, two minor nicks, a small piece of adhered clay, and an in-the-making lean. A glazed-over in-the-firing iron ping at base. Light staining. Minor surface wear. H 14".
