Manganese-Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, thin-walled, cylindrical jar with footed base, tapered shoulder, and semi-squared rim, the exterior surface coated in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Impressed with early-period John Bell maker's mark at shoulder. A few base chips and base wear. Wear to shoulder and rim. H 5 1/4".
