Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with two drooping floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt below each handle. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing stone ping to one side. H 9 1/2" ; Diam. 10 3/4".
