Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Cottageville, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1885, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "D.W. RHODES. / DEALER IN / MERCHANDISE / COTTAGEVILLE. W.VA." Freehand stripes above and a script "2" with flourishes below underscored by a stripe. As-made condition with a 2" contact mark on left side. H 11 7/8".
