Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "H.N. & J.B. SANDUSKY / BRiDGEPORT / WVA," circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring H.N. and J.B. Sandusky maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled "2," along with a freehand stripe below rim. The first example bearing this WV maker's mark that we have offered. This pottery was later leased to the more-well-known firm of Warner and Russell circa 1884-1885. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11 3/4".
