Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "ALBANY .NY," probably O'Connell Pottery, Albany, NY, circa 1860, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed floral design featuring spotted accents and dramatic spiraled treatment to the petals and stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Some spalling to cobalt. Rim chips. Spots of staining to surface. A small in-the-firing iron ping to one handle. A faint 2 1/2" line beside decoration on front. Some short lines on interior body, not visible on exterior. Some minor in-the-firing surface flaws. H 14".
