Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N.CLARK JR / ATHENS. N Y," mid 19th century, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a flowering plant motif bearing six blossoms. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A few small in-the-firing iron pings to surface, one including a 1 1/2" vertical surface crack. Some minor in-the-firing clay residue to shoulder on reverse. A smooth, unglazed in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder. H 14".
