Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Troy, NY Advertising and Cobalt Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Impressed above with the advertising, "E&N.BROWNSON / TROY / NY." Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. An in-the-firing iron ping on reverse. Minor to small chips on interior of rim. Some faint water glass staining to surface. H 9 1/4".
