Six-Quart Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Includes original salt-glazed lid with matching capacity mark on knob. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Interior of jar's rim with two chips and two minor nicks. Lid with two chips to knob, a chip to edge, and a 1" line from edge. H (including lid) 10 3/4".
