Two-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON, & Co / BENNINGTON," VT origin, circa 1823-1828, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a flowering plant emanating from a stylized ground. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes salt-glazed stoneware lid. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Jar with a tight spider line to underside, not visible on interior, and a large firing crack on interior that does not extend through to exterior, and some faint surface crazing to proper left side of jar (not visible on interior). Lid with chipping around edge and wear to finial. H (including lid) 12 1/2".
