Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Swan Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR, TROY," NY State origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-accented design of a swan on water with downward craning neck and impressed eye. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Literature: Illustrated in Bouck and Broderick, Pottery Works: Potteries of New York State's Capital District and Upper Hudson Region, p. 119. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Some tight lines to spout/shoulder area. A 7/8" chip to top of spout. Three smaller spout chips. Light staining across much of jug. H 11 1/2".
