Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.E. WARNER / MANUFACTURER ALBANY," NY State origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared collar, and lug handles, brush-decorated with an open-centered flower featuring a dramatically-curved stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. This jar includes an unusual maker's mark variant reading "W.E. WARNER" instead of the usual "WM. E. WARNER." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A thin, approximately 6" crack from rim on reverse. A 2" crack from rim above proper right handle. A chip to exterior of rim. A chip to interior of rim. Minor chipping around bottom edge. A 2" in-the-making gouge out of clay on underside. Prices written in marker on underside. Some fry to cobalt. H 10 1/2".
