Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped Twice "J. REMMEY. / NEW-YORK," John Remmey, III, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, squat-shaped jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, impressed on the front and reverse with a John Remmey III maker's mark. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. One handle professionally restored. A few minor rim chips. Some tight lines to surface of exterior and underside, not visible on interior. A minor base chip. H 8 5/8".
