Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, attributed to Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, early 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flaring, tooled rim, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an impressed stylized drape flanked floral motifs, each highlighted in cobalt slip. Base with dipped iron slip decoration. Iron slip coating to interior. Impressed "2" on top of rim. Good condition with a few base chips, two in-the-firing pings to one side, some residue to handles, rim area, and interior, and light staining to surface. H 12 3/8".
