Rare Pair of Bristol-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Mugs with Cobalt Decoration Including Fish, Ohio origin, probably Zanesville, Dated 1904, pair of Bristol-slip-glazed mugs with angular handles, one inscribed in brushed cobalt, "Glen Bolin. / Camp Lucky / Aug. 1904," with detailed brushed and incised cobalt fish below, the other inscribed "Mary Bolin / Camp Luckey / 1904" in brushed cobalt. Camp Lucky was a retreat village located just outside of Zanesville. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Fish-decorated mug with a few surface lines from rim on interior, not visible on exterior, and a short in-the-firing line from rim on exterior. Other mug in excellent condition. H (of each) 4 1/8".
