Two Pieces of Shenandoah Valley Pottery, Stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va.," circa 1875, a flare-rimmed stoneware canning jar decorated with brushed swag motifs over a slip-coated ground, paired with an ovoid redware jar with lead-and-manganese-glazed interior, each bearing a Solomon Bell maker's mark. Provenance: From a fifty-year VA collection. Stoneware jar with a rim chip and some surface fissures to slip coating, not visible on interior. Redware jar in very nice condition with two minor base chips and minor wear to interior base. H (of taller) 8 3/8".
