Fine Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "O," probably Delay Family, Barrow County, GA, circa 1850-1870, ovoid jar with footed base and flaring rim, the surface covered in a mottled, olive-green alkaline glaze. Impressed with a circle stamp at shoulder. Desirable size. Literature: For a related jar marked "R.V. Delay, see Burrison, From Mud to Jug, p. 15. Very nice condition with two rim chips and a kiln drip to front. H 8 1/2".
