Three Albany, NY Stoneware Jars, Albany, NY origin, second quarter 19th century, a cylindrical salt-glazed jar, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "ALBANY TOBACCO FACTORY / LYMAN PHILLEO / MANUFACTURER OF. / CUT TOBACCO / SNUFF & SEGARS / CORNER OF LYDIUS & CHURCH ST. / ALBANY;" a smaller, Albany-slip-glazed jar, impressed with the advertising, "ROBINSON&DOUGHTY / WHOLESALE.DRUGGISTS / AND DEALER IN.DYESTUFFS / PAINTS OILS,BRUSHES&C / NO 68 STATE.ST / ALBANY;" and an Albany-slip-glazed handled crock with lid, impressed "G B & R H FRASER / FULSON ST / ALBANY." Includes molded, Albany-slip-glazed lid that is loosely-fitting and probably not original to the crock. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Tobacco jar with rim chips, a few minor base chips, staining, and a significant crack around body. Jar was not broken into two pieces and reglued. Smaller jar with thin cracks and crazing, a few minor rim chips, flakes to interior, a small base chip, and a tiny base nick. Handled crock and lid are both in excellent condition, the lid with a minor in-the-firing ping to edge. H (of tallest) 10 3/4".
