Two Albany, NY Stoneware Advertising Jugs, Albany, NY origin, second quarter 19th century, both of highly ovoid form, one featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "JOHN BROWN / DEALER IN / GROCERIES & PROVISIONS / NO 10 DANIEL ST. / ALBANY," the other featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "THOMAS MC ELROY / DEALER.IN / TEAS SUGARS LIQUORS PROVISION / POT&PEARL ASHES &C / CORNER OF MAIDEN LANE&DEAN / STREET / ALBANY." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Smaller with some restoration to spout, a horizontal crack through handle, and a minor in-the-firing handle chip. Larger with a base chip and some smooth in-the-firing contact marks to surface. H (of taller) 12 1/4".
