Stoneware Canning Jar with Sponged Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and flared rim, the surface dipped in whitish slip, decorated around the shoulder with cobalt sponging, and covered in a a clear salt glaze. A few small, partially-filled chips or pings to rim. A 1 1/2" hairline from rim. A few minor in-the-firing flaws to surface. H 8 1/2".
