Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / MOUNT MORRIS", New York State origin, circa 1825-1840, highly-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt leaf below a freehand cobalt "2". Includes old wooden stopper. A glazed-over flake at base on reverse. Some staining, in-the-firing mottling, and faint crazing to surface. A minor in-the-firing surface line to spout. A small in-the-firing ping to shoulder on reverse. H (excluding stopper) 14 3/4".
