Five Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Crocks, attributed to Ballardvale, MA, fourth quarter 19th century, all of cylindrical form, a one-gallon crock with stenciled eagle motif; two one-gallon crocks with stenciled rose motif; a two-gallon crock with stenciled rose motif; and a two-gallon crock with stenciled rose motif and the impressed advertising, "J.H. CLEARY / MERRIMAC-MASS." Eagle crock with a rim chip on reverse, a Y-shaped crack on underside extending onto base in three places, staining to surface, and light exfoliation to underside and base. One one-gallon rose crock with light exfoliation to underside and base and a small chip to proper right handle. Other one-gallon rose crock with a few small chips to interior of rim, a long crack from rim on reverse, a few small base chips, light wear to handles, and light staining. Two-gallon advertising crock with a thin crack from rim on front, rim chips, a few surface flakes to front, areas of staining, and exfoliation to proper left handle. Other crock with a spider crack in underside, including a thin crack extending onto base on front, a few rim chips, a large chip and wear to proper right handle, and some wear to proper right handle.
