Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK / ATHENS," NY State origin, circa 1825, ovoid churn with flaring collar and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated with stylized floral motif featuring wreath-like leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A thin 9" crack from rim on reverse. Shallow chips and nicks around rim, some glazed over. Wear to inner rim for lid. A small in-the-firing bloated spot at base on reverse. H 16".
