Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER& / G. GOETZMAN / ROCHESTER.NY," circa 1853-1860, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of an orchid plant with heavily-striped petals and bullseye center. Slip-trailed "2" above. A few small rim chips. Inner rim for lid with a few small chips, nicks, and wear. Some wear to cobalt. Spots of light staining to surface. H 12 1/2".
