Very Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John Burger, Rochester, NY, circa 1860, ovoid jug with thick, semi-rounded spout, decorated with an artistic slip-trailed design of a daffodil plant featuring a large central blossom and row of five buds. Slip-trailed "2." above. This example features exceptional color and heavy, enamel-like cobalt complementing its refined decoration. Excellent condition with some minor wear to cobalt, an in-the-firing discolored spot to proper left side, and light staining. H 15".
