Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Bold Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with rare cobalt-filled body, perched on a floral spray. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Very nice condition with some light bubbling to base of design and bird's tail and staining to surface. H 16 1/2".
