Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "ALBANY NY," possibly O'Connell Pottery, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird, perched on a stump. Good detail throughout including spots to the bird's body, heavy striping to the wing, and solid cobalt highlighting to the tail. Slip-trailed "2" above. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Excellent condition with a small chip to reverse end of one handle, the interior of the rim with some wear and a few minor, shallow chips. H 9 7/8".
