Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Rabbit Decoration, Stamped "ALBANY NY," probably O'Connell Pottery, Albany, NY, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a leaping rabbit with elaborate ground featuring stylized spotted and striped bushes. One of only two rabbit-decorated pieces from this pottery that we have ever offered, this jug being the only signed example. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. Spout chips. Various small in-the-firing flaws to surface. A salt drip to proper right side. Crazing to underside. Staining around base. Some light surface wear. H 15".
