Unusual Albany, NY Stoneware Advertising Jar, Stamped "SMITH, BRICKNER & CO. ALBANY," NY State origin, circa 1840s, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and semi-rounded rim, impressed with the advertising, "A MCCLURE / DEALER IN PAINTS OILS / DYSTUFFS(sic).&C. / NO 74.STATE STREET.ALBANY." Impressed with Smith, Brickner & Co. maker's mark near base. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Traces of old paint to surface, unrelated to any sort of restoration. Otherwise excellent condition. H 8".
