Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SMITH & BRICKNER / 221 WASHINGTON ST ALBANY," NY State origin, circa 1845, highly-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with two tulips featuring dramatically-curved stems emanating from a spotted leaf. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing chipped area (contact mark) to front, a small piece of adhered clay to proper left side of jug, and some small in-the-firing iron pings to surface. H 15 1/2".
