Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK," early 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and open loop handles, decorated with brushed slashes around the maker's mark and a stylized drape motif on the reverse shoulder. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A tight 3 1/2" Y-shaped crack on underside, continuing 3 1/4" up reverse. Reverse midsection with a small surface chip including a 2 1/4" X-shaped line extending through it. A few minor in-the-firing surface flaws. Chips to interior of rim. H 12 1/2".
