Fine Small-Sized Redware Jug with Manganese Decoration, New England origin, circa 1800-1830, highly-ovoid jug with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flaring spout, the lead-glazed surface decorated splashes of manganese over an olive ground with dramatic red-and-orange spotting. Excellent size and glaze. Provenance: George S. McKearin Collection of American Pottery, No. 651. Retains McKearin label on reverse; From a fifty-year New England collection. Very nice condition with some wear to spout and a minor nick of glaze loss to handle. Loss to sticker. H 5 1/2".
