Rare and Fine Oval Redware Loaf Dish with Extravagant Three-Color Slip Decoration, Norwalk, CT origin, late 18th or early 19th century, oval dish with coggled edge, the interior decorated throughout with dramatic marbled cream, manganese, and copper slip decoration under a clear lead glaze. Featuring a desirable oval form, this example features the most extensive slip application, consistent from rim to center, among the few related dishes of this style that we have offered. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a fifty-year New England collection. A 2" flake and 5/8" flake to rim. Other light wear to rim and interior. L 14 1/2".
