Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Crossed Leaf and Floral Decoration, Stamped "PFALTZGRAFF & CO. / YORK, PA," circa 1855-1880, semi-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, brush-decorated with a highly unusual design of crossed leaves above a flower. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals, maker's mark, and capacity mark. An in-the-firing surface chip to front. A 1 3/4" in-the-firing spout chip. A chip to handle. A small in-the-firing chip to proper right side of jug. A 1 3/4" vertical line at base on reverse. H 16".
