Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Butterfly Decoration, Stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with an artistic design of a butterfly on the front. A few rim chips. A small chip to proper left handle. Minor staining to reverse. H 10 3/4".
