Three-Gallon Boston, MA Stoneware Advertising Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed floral spray accented with spots. Impressed above with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "M DAVIS & CO; / 55 & 57 BLACKSTONE ST / BOSTON." Provenance: From a fifty-year VA collection. A 3 1/2" line to shoulder and a 1" chipped section to base. H 15 7/8".
