Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Dove Decoration, Stamped "FRANK B NORTON / WORCESTER MASS," circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and tall collar with semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a dove with elaborate flourishes, a looping vine, and spots below and foliate motif above. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A few small rim chips. Handle with a spot of Albany slip and tiny nicks. A few minor in-the-firing flaws to surface. Minor surface crazing to base on front, not visible on interior. Areas of staining to surface. H 10 1/2".
