Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Hartford, CT origin, first quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base, heavily-ribbed handle, and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a tulip with impressed circles and incised details on interior, emanating from a crosshatched square. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A very long, sealed curving crack on reverse, ascending from base and running horizontally below handle, including a 3 1/2" hairline descending from this crack. Additional crazing and vertical lines to base area. Areas of staining. H 14".
