One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Drape Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / STONEWARE / MANUFACTURER / Manhattan Wells. / NEW YORK," first quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and rounded mouth, brush-decorated with a scalloped spotted drape motif at the shoulder. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An approximately 7" spider crack to reverse / proper left side of jug. Proper right side of jug with an in-the-firing flake adjoining two small, C-shaped in-the-firing lines and a small inverted Y-shaped line. A faint 3 1/4" line to left side of jug. Various in the firing warping to body and underside. H 11 1/2".
