Two Stoneware Bottles, American, 19th century, one with cobalt-highlighted upper body, impressed "ROOT BEER" and "BOYD & BEARD.," Northeastern U.S. origin; the other impressed "ROSS BROS & Co. / Bottle Manufactory / MIDDLEBURY," OH origin. Smaller with an in-the-firing chip, two spout chips, and in-the-firing mottling to surface. Larger bottle with a few in-the-firing chips to bottom edge, minor wear, and a few minor in-the-firing contact marks. H (of shorter) 6 1/2".
