Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stenciled "H. & S. SWANK / JOHNSTOWN PA," circa 1885, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and arched lug handles, brush-decorated on one side with a flowering vine design and on the opposing side with Swank maker's mark in stenciled cobalt. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and four stripes below each handle. A top-to-bottom jagged crack from rim. Some light surface wear. Rim is somewhat out-of-round. H 13".
