Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, American, third quarter 19th century, both of cylindrical form, a one-gallon jar with fan-shaped foliate device, probably Rockingham County, VA origin, paired with a two-gallon jar with fan-shaped floral and swag motifs, Baltimore, MD origin. Smaller jar in essentially as-made condition with some typical small in-the-firing flaws including some shallow in-the-firing chipping to top of rim. Larger jar in excellent condition with two rim chips, an in-the-firing contact mark to midsection, and a minor base nick. H (of smaller) 10 1/8".
