Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Strasburg, VA origin, circa 1880, both of cylindrical form, a half-gallon jar decorated with brushed swags over a slip-coated surface, stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va," paired with a one-gallon swag-decorated jar, stamped "GEO.W.MILLER / STRASBURG, VA." Bell jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition with some small in-the-making flaws to rim. Miller jar with rim chips and a vertical in-the-firing line to base area, not visible on interior. H (of Bell jar) 7 3/4".
